Cape Town Half Day

After a cable car ride up Table Mountain (own account and weather permitting), walk through historic Company Gardens, home of the Houses of Parliament. Continue to Greenmarket Square flea market and the Cape Malay Quarter.  Explore the Castle and visit a diamond workshop.

Cape Peninsula

See how this spectacular southern tip of Africa became known as the ‘Fairest Cape’. Begin with a stroll through the famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Drive past the pristine beaches of Camps Bay, Clifton and Llandudno – currently the hottest real estate in the world – to Hout Bay, a functioning harbor and heart of the local crayfish industry. Drive along the breathtakingly scenic Chapman’s Peak Drive, around the Atlantic Seaboard.

After a stop for lunch (own account), it’s on to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and its scenic viewing point. The amazing sea and mountain views are reason enough to make the 41 mile trip from Cape Town.  Amid the rocky landscape – home to mountain zebra, eland and ostriches – blooms magnificent Cape flora. Continue along the coastline to the beautiful Boulders Beach where you can stroll along wooden walkways and enjoy viewing a colony of penguins. The last stop is at the naval port of Simon’s Town, the country’s third oldest European settlement.

Cape Winelands

Escape to the beauty and tranquility of the Paarl, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch Winelands. The first stop is the Afrikaans Language Monument, perched on Paarl Rock, which offers sweeping views of the surrounding area. Continue onto wineries of well-known estates to sample wines of merit, before visiting the Huguenot Monument and Museum in Franschhoek to discover the origins of this world renowned wine producing region. Enjoy lunch in one of the many fine restaurants in either Franschhoek or Stellenbosch (own account). Don’t miss the world-famous 19th century-style general dealer in Stellenbosch’s Dorp Street - Oom Samie se Winkel.

Walk to Freedom

Experience the raw energy of this ‘rainbow nation’ in one remarkable day. The tour visits the vibrant Bo-Kaap (Malay Quarter), the District Six Museum, Langa and Guguletu. Sample a slice of township life with a visit to an informal spaza (shop), a shebeen (pub) and hostels.  From here, continue on to Robben Island – embark on a three hour cruise and tour of the island and walk in the footsteps of our most famous citizen, Nelson Mandela.

Johannesburg

Johannesburg Half Day

Begin in the affluent, leafy suburb of Houghton before venturing towards downtown to the historical heart of Johannesburg. Learn about the workings of the Supreme Court and the symbolism of Ghandi Square before visiting the vibrant Market Theater and Museum Afrika.

Apartheid Museum

Embark on a discovery of the racial segregation experienced by millions of South Africans a mere decade ago. On entering the building you are racially classified and you see this segregation in all forms of life. There are excellent displays depicting the Soweto up rising, ANC in exile, petty apartheid, solitary confinement, anti-apartheid movements abroad and sport boycotts. See the birth of a new democratic country with the inauguration of Nelson Mandela as President and witness one of the most progressive constitutions in the world.

Soweto Culture

Soweto – acronym for South Western Township is home to over 2 million people who, despite living in crowded and chaotic conditions, have a tangible sense of community, which the ordered walled northern suburbs lack.  Visit the Hector Peterson Museum, where you learn about the cause of the riots.  Pass the Mandela House, with the option to visit the small museum (for your own account), and visit the Regina Mondi Church, site of many underground meetings of the then banned political parties.

Sun City

Visit South Africa's premier extravaganza of casinos, million dollar golf tournaments, and home of the fantasy of The Lost City. Sun City is situated two hours by road from Johannesburg and beckons the glamorous, the thrill seekers, fortune hunters, and sports enthusiasts.

Game Viewing in South Africa

A Typical Day On Safari in South Africa

As the early morning sun rises over the horizon head out into the African bushveld. Sense the excitement…who knows what to expect? A herd of ever-cautious impala huddled together, a herd of elephant feeding in the lush vegetation or a pride of lion in the shade of an acacia. Upon return to camp enjoy a sizeable brunch. Free time is then ample during the heat of the day to enjoy a siesta or dip in the pool. Enjoy tea, cakes and savories before departing on an afternoon activity, with a stop for cocktails en route. Return to camp and savor a sumptuous dinner.
