Mombo Camp
Luxury
Mombo Camp is
situated on Mombo Island, adjoining the northern tip of Chief's
Island, within the Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta in
northern Botswana. The camp has nine luxuriously furnished tents,
raised off the ground. Guest rooms and connecting walkways that
connect are up to two meters off the ground, allowing game to wander
freely through the camp. One often finds that animals take refuge
under the rooms. The canvas rooms are spacious and well appointed

those who enjoy a shower under the stars. The dining room, pub and
living area overlook the open plain in front of the camp and there
is a plunge pool for relaxing in the heat of the day.

Mombo include morning and afternoon game drives in open 4x4
vehicles. The camp offers abundant big game viewing and a true
highlight is the concentration of plains game and all the predators
– including the big cats. Lion sightings are particularly good.

located in a private reserve in the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve,
bordering on the western boundary of Chobe National Park in northern
Botswana. The camp overlooks the
Kings Pool Lagoon
and the Linyanti River to the north. The reserve consists of 125,000
hectares of unspoiled wilderness. Most of the area is characterized

populations, which can reach enormous densities in the winter
months. Impala, lechwe, kudu, zebra, giraffe, sitatunga, sable,
roan, waterbuck, buffalo, bushbuck and the smaller antelope are all
found here. The major predators, such as lion, leopard, cheetah,

ranging from the Fish Eagle to waterfowl, cranes, storks, plovers
and herons. One of the camp's highlights is the wildlife sounds.
There are nine twin
bedded tented rooms under cool thatch, with views of a hippo filled
lagoon. Each suite has a lounge area, private plunge pool and en
suite bathroom with two showers, two hand basins and a separate
flush toilet. There is an outdoor shower for those who prefer to
shower under the stars. The main area is linked to the bedrooms by a

Vumbura Plains
Luxury
Vumbura Camp is
situated in a private reserve of 60,000 hectares, within Botswana's
Okavango Delta. Vumbura can offer both water and land activities as
this area has scenic waterways and is also close to the Okavango's
outermost open savannahs. The camp has nine large, luxury tented
rooms, sleeping a maximum of sixteen guests. All of the luxury rooms
are raised off the ground on wooden platforms with walkways
connecting them to the main living areas. Each room has a large
bedroom, a lounge, a "sala" and en suite facilities with a shower, a
flush toilet and an outdoor shower under the stars as well as its
own plunge pool. The rooms are tastefully decorated and give guests
a wonderful feeling of remote Africa – while still being
comfortable. The main dining, lounge and pub area is tucked beneath
a canopy of shady indigenous trees with a superb view across the
floodplain. There is a plunge pool, too.
Vumbura has both
the wetland and savannah species of wildlife – Red lechwe,
waterbuck, hippo, crocodile, as well as sable, kudu, wildebeest and
tsessebe, who roam the open plains. On game drives you often see
more Sable than Impala. Herds of buffalo and elephant are spotted
here, along with the predators – lion, leopard, wild dog and
cheetah. Those who enjoy bird watching will love the combination of
all the Okavango water "specials" with acacia and dry woodland
species.
Vumbura offers
mekoro excursions, walks, boating and game drives. Game drives are
conducted in open 4x4 Land Rovers with experienced guides. Night
drives are possible nearly all year, but may be restricted for a few
months in the middle of each year if there are extremely high flood
levels. The variety of wildlife here is stunning; go out by boat in
the morning and see hippos, crocodiles, Red lechwe and all the
aquatic wildlife – and then travel out by Land Rover in the
afternoon to see elephant, sable and all the dry savannah game. All
meals (including alcohol), laundry service and game activities are
included. |

Kwando
Lagoon Camp
Standard
The camp lies on
the shady banks of the Kwando River among tall and ancient African
Ebony and Marula trees, under the watchful gaze of the resident
hippos. Morning and night game drives are conducted by specialist
guides and trackers in open safari vehicles. This area is home to
huge herds of elephants and buffalo. There are few places in Africa
where such concentrated numbers of these animals exist, especially
in the dry season. The shady, treed environment of the camp hosts a
great variety of birds and squirrels that visit daily. A family of
hippo and an elephant or three are regularly sighted from the tents.
This contributes to the relaxed calm that prevails at camp. The
predators are also well represented by lion, hyena, leopard, cheetah
and wild dog. These animals are generally very relaxed in the
presence of vehicles, meaning the sightings are usually at close
range. Among the great variety of antelope species found here the
endangered sable and roan are often seen.
Seasonally, large
herds of elephant drink almost daily at the river bank in front of
the camp. The big herds attract big predators. The lions of Kwando
are famous for their elephant, hippo and buffalo kills. Boat cruises
along the Kwando River provide excellent opportunities for birding.
Specialist fly-fishing and spinner fishing for Tiger fish and Bream
are on offer. Some excellent catches have been made by Kwando
guests.
Kwando Lagoon Camp
accommodates only 12 guests in 6 twin bedded safari style tents.
Each of the 6 twin bedded tents has a bedroom area furnished in
Rhodesian teak with en suite reed-enclosed facilities including twin
hand basins, toilet and a large shower open to the night stars. The
lounge, bar and dining area is under thatch. There is a guest pool
in which to cool off during the hot months. All meals (including
alcohol), laundry service and game activities are included. |
