a Sunday night (Operates with a minimum of 2 passengers)
Day 1 Fly USA
to Nairobi (Via Europe)
Day 2 Arrive Nairobi
On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Kenya's
capital is cosmopolitan, lively, interesting and pleasantly
landscaped. Its central business district is handily compact and
it's a great place to tune into modern urban African life.
Originally little more than a swampy watering hole for Maasai
tribes, Nairobi grew with the advent of the railway and had became a
substantial town by 1900. Five years later it succeeded Mombasa as
the capital of the British protectorate. Today it's the largest city
between Cairo and Johannesburg.
Accommodation: 1 night – refer to ‘Hotels’ section for detailed
information.
Superior: Sarova Stanley Hotel
Day 3 Nairobi to Lake Manyara National Park
Early this morning, you will be collected from your hotel and
transferred to Lake Manyara. You will change vehicles at the border
between Kenya and Tanzania. You will also have to get a visa at the
border as well as have your yellow fever certificate. Visa's can be
obtained on arrival or before you depart from the United States. On
arrival, following check in, you will enjoy lunch.
Accommodation: 1 night – refer to ‘Hotels’ section for detailed
information.
Superior: Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge
Day 4 Lake Manyara to Ngorongoro
This morning enjoy a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park,
before returning to the lodge for lunch. Following lunch, you will
transfer to Ngorongoro Crater.
Accommodation: 2 nights – refer to ‘Hotels’ section for detailed
information.
Superior: Ngorongoro Serena Lodge
Day 5 Ngorongoro Crater Tour
Early this morning you will be woken for your half day tour in the
crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is the largest perfect caldera in the
world. This outstanding wonder is only one of the attractions within
a vast and diverse conservation area. High mountain forest extends
to the lip of the crater. Among the branches of the dense green
canopy, a variety of bird species search for food in the partial
gloom.
The forest then recedes to give breathtaking views of the crater's
vertiginous void. Grazers dominate with zebra, wildebeest, gazelle,
buffalo, eland, hartebeest, warthogs and intriguingly, only bull
elephant. Lion and hyena frequent the many ponds, with and kori
bustard are the distinctive grassland birds. The swamps, ponds and
rivers support an ever-present population of water birds.
Day 6 Ngorongoro to Serengeti National Park
You will leave Ngorongoro with a picnic lunch. Enjoy a stop en route
at Olduvai Gorge. At Olduvai Gorge, natural erosion exposed a series
of superimposed geological beds containing rich artifacts and fossil
assemblages spanning the past 1.8 million years. The site is famous
as a result of excavations conducted there since 1951 under the
direction of Mary Leakey and her husband, the late Louis Leakey.
Arrive at the lodge in time for dinner.
Accommodation: 2 nights – refer to ‘Hotels’ section for detailed
information.

Day 7 Serengeti National Park
Morning and afternoon game drives are included today. The Serengeti
is one of the world's last great wildlife sanctuaries. It is from
here that the famous army of grazers begins its legendary trek in
search of new grazing lands. Though the precise timing varies each
year, it usually occurs around May. The columns of herbivores
stretch up to 25 miles long as they make their way up north toward
Kenya's Maasai Mara from where they eventually return some eight and
a half months later. The best time to see heavy concentration of
game is between January and February. Life on the Serengeti is a
complex cycle, the defining factor of which is the rain.
Day 8 Fly Seronera to Nairobi
You will be transferred to Seronera airstrip for your scheduled
flight to Arusha, where you will arrive in time for lunch at Novotel
Mt Meru. After lunch, you will be transferred to the airport for
your flight to Nairobi.
